My name is Jamie Chapman and I am excited to introduce myself! I was lucky enough to begin my career as an educator here at the Dawe School a short time ago. This is my fifth year working in 3rd grade at the Dawe. I have had the opportunity to work with all sorts of amazing adults and children in all different settings, which I believe has helped me adapt my classroom environment to fit the needs of my students.
When I am not at school, I enjoy creating art, reading, walking around Boston, going to the beach, and spending time with my family, who I am very close with. I graduated with my Masters from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014. I live in Boston and have a kitty named Jerry!
Although I am new(ish) to the profession, I am very passionate and hold a set of values that I feel strongly about. I believe the integration of social/emotional skills as well as creative expression. Although academic skills are important, learning to persevere, accept those that are different from you, and appreciate diversity are equally important. While I have my own ideas, I am always eager to work with and learn from my more experienced teammates. I love my students, and I always tell them that since I don't have any children of my own yet, my students are my kids!
Feel free to contact me via phone, email, or note anytime with any questions or concerns you may have. Email is the best mode of communication! I will respond as quickly as possible.
